Rare resources worth exploring the map for

Could be small things like gems in mountains or underground, or beautiful flowers that gives a housing bonus. Or truffles that are used in highend food but fragile to climate change and will disappear or spoil as one of the first consequences of pollution.
As long as these resources are scarce, they will be fun to go hunt for in the world. And it could give another incentive to keep nature non-polluted.
Right now, scarcity in the game only comes from high demand, but nothing in the game is intrinsically scarce and worth looking for, which is a shame. Exploration really isnt a thing, which it could be.

Its the one thing missing I think would be easy. Gemstones would be ideal for adorning high decor items. Just make them rare to find. Diamonds, Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphire etc. I saw they are adding dinosaur bones that would be really cool! Maybe some rare earth like lithium /cobalt which requires a LOT of energy to clean or it pollutes extremely fast.

Perhaps an addition to the game where miners may provide rare gemstones; rubies, emeralds, topaz, and different types of corundums to skill trees like faceters, which a faceting machine is used to "sand" or grind rough minerals to a certain size or shape which is used in gemstones.
We could use the gold that exists in the game to create ring bands by blacksmiths?
Then the faceters could use their gemstones and ring bands to create different types of jewelry that could be used as XP bonuses. Maybe even if you wanted to go the route of having the jewelry pieces be used as hunger bonuses, or speed enhancements, etc.

Agreed, it would also add some diversity between games, since you could have different rare items depending on the world, and having luck finding one in the beginning could push a player to try a new gameplay exploiting or promoting the rare resource he has settled on.

Gems and jewelry

Addition of gems in the game. The gems would be very rare blocks found deep underground.
They need to be extracted, processed and polished (by a jeweler ?) to be used in different kind of recipes :
- Statues
- Clothes
- Jewelry
- Decorations
- Lasers
- Diamond for its hardness (drills, etc)
Gems are used in different domains (jewellry, housing/decoration, technology, etc) and could be an interesting addition with good "cross-profession" possibilities.
The gems could also be found in biomes with "underused undergrounds" which could give more interest in those biomes for miners.
