Ability to turn off ghost-placement

A setting to be able to turn off the ghosts that appear when holding things would be great. Often, you don't place things in the world like this and it just gets in the way and is rather distracting/frustrating. Seeing the attached screenshot, I am just trying to mine and put things into my cart but everywhere I look I have these ghosts in my face just in case I want to place something on the ground (I don't).
If I do want to place something on the ground, I don't need a ghost to tell me where I am looking.
Perhaps, it would be good to have an option to turn these off for those of us who don't want/need them.

It now hides certain things like rubble, while still leaving world object placement ghost outlines.

Another option would be, remove the ghost placment from tools, require an empty hand instead. That way we can mine and dig without the ghost. Quick switching to another slot would be easy.
Maybe even a dedicated slot for placing carried items? Like 9 items on the toolbar and the tenth slot could be for placing down dirt or stone.

this! the ghost placement is awkward and always in your face. Makes it hard to see anything when mining. It's twitchy and distracting.
